    Bangkok to Vientiane (LAOSCY01) 12 Days
    Itineraries: Chiang Khong-Pak Beng-Oudomxai-Pak Mong-Luang Prabang-Kiew Ka Cham-Kasi-Vang Vieng-Vientiane

    Trip Profile:
    This Thailand and Laos Cycling Tour starts from Bangkok and finishes in Vientiane, the Laos capital. We cross the border near the Golden Triangle area after taking the boat on the Mekong River from Chiang Kong to Pak Beng. It is now possible to get Laos visa on arrival for mostly USD35 per person. Please take 1 photo passport size for the visa. Please inform us your nationality for more information about the visa as the price is a varriable.

    The altitude for this trip range from 1,800 feet in Chiang Khong to over 5,000 feet and in our itinerary below we have highlighted only some of the difficulty levels for the high altitudes climbing. Most of the routes we use are quiet as there is not much traffic along the route which are mainly paved. We do have some boat and bus transfer which we mentioned in the below itinerary. During this Thailand and Laos biking trip, we cycle over 700km for 9 days. The first day, we take the flight from Bangkok and second day we take the boat and cross the border and 1 relax day in Luang Prabang.

    Tour Itinerary:

    Day 1: Chiang Khong (Domestic Flight)
    Welcome in Bangkok and take domestic flight to Chiang Rai. It is located in northern Thailand. Transfer 2 hours by van to Chiang Khong, a mainly visited town as a stop-off point en-route to the ferry crossing to Laos. We have sunset view over the Mekong River from Thailand to Laos. Briefing about the tour and the next day activitie over the dinner. Overnight in Chiang Khong. (D)

    Laos-Cycling05Day 2: Chiang Khong - Pak Beng (Boat Cruise)
    After breakfast, we take the boat crossing the Mekong River. Then we cross the border. It is now possible to get Laos visa on arrival for mostly USD35 per person. Please take 1 photo passport size for the visa. Please inform us your nationality for more information about the visa as the price is a varriable. After arrive in the small town of Pak Beng, we do our bike fitting. Dinner and overnight in Pak Beng. (B,L,D)

    Day 3: Pak Beng to Oudomxai (80km)
    Breakfast in Pak Beng before setting off our bike on the first day of cycling. It is our best to cycle today and we leave the Mekong River in the back drop. As we cycle far from the Mekong River, we enjoy the landscape and some small minority villages where they grow corn and rice. We should be able to do 50km by lunch time. After lunch we continue to cycle the last 30km before transferring to Udomxai. Dinner and overnight in Oudomxai. (B,L,D) 
    Day 4: Oudomxai to Pak Mong (60km)

    After breakfast, we fill in the water and then do a bit of excercise to warm up our musscles. We beging to cycle with a tough climb with hill after hill but the scenery is magnificient. Then take a break to enjoy snack, fresh fruits and drinks to get energy before continuing to cycle to Pak Mong. Dinner and overnight in Pak Mong. (B,L,D)

    Day 5: Pak Mong to LuangPrabang (105km)
    Today is our longest bike ride. Early morning, we cycle on the main road passing Ban Thabu. Then we cycle along Nam Ou river. It is an interesting to cycle along the river through villages to enjoy the rural lives. Enjoy picnic lunch on the river bank and take a power nap before heading to Pak Ou.  It has the famous tourist attraction, Pak Ou caves. The end of the day, we finally arrive at Luang Prabang, the World Heritage town. Dinner and overnight in Luang Prabang. 

    Day 6: Luang Prabang
    Enjoy a free day in Luang Prabang to explore the temples, learn Lao cooking, shop, explore the surrounding handicraft, ride an elephant, relax in a café - there is so much to do! (B)

    Day 7: Luang Prabang (Kuang Sii Waterfall)  62km
    After a restful day we hit the bikes for a ride to the stunning Kuang Sii Waterfall. The ride is along a small road alongside the Mekong River passing through small villages, rice fields and forest. At the waterfall enjoy a swim, picnic lunch and a visit to the tiger and bear rescue centre before riding back to Luang Prabang. (B,L)

    Day 8: Luang Prabang to Kiew Ka Cham (78km) Laos-Cycling02
    Departs fromm Luang Prabang cycle the way to KiewKa Cham passing on the mountain road passing lush forest and many small H’mong villages that sit forward the amazing landscape of limestone mountains that surround them. Overnight in KiewKa Cham. 

    Day 9: Kiew Ka Cham – Kasi (94 Km)
    After breakfast fill in water and be prepared to get on the bike today is a hard part of cycling with some up hills and down hills so will start up early. You will be high in the mountain for the first half of the day following a ride line up and down with peaks all around. In the afternoon it is time to relax a bit as the road is largely downhill along a valley to our overnight stop of Kasi, a small village on top of the mountains. Overnight in Kasi.

    Day 10: Kasi to Vang Vieng  (57km) Laos-Cycling01
    The ride to Vangvieng is a relatively easy day travelling through the lush green of rice fields. Vangvieng is set in a prime location. Surrounded by limestone peaks, caves and river this town see its fair shared traverse but for good reason. Overnight in VangVieng. (B,L,D)

    Day 11: Vang Vieng - Phong Hong (Nam Ngum Lake) 85km
    Spend the day cycling mainly down hills to Phon Hong and to Nam Ngum lake, the biggest lake in Laos formed by the damn. Dinner and spend the night near the lake. (B,L,D)

    Day 12: Phon Hong – Vientiane (85km)
    After breakfast cycle the last part of the journey to Vientiane the road become mainly flat for this ride and you should be in Vientiane late afternoon. If time permit we will have time for half day city tour to visit National museum, That Luangstupa and Patouxay. (B,L) Tour Ends
